Action Housing residents Dalia and Zipporah enjoyed a truly memorable personal shopping experience this week, thanks to the generosity of Debenhams

Action Foundation are up for two prizes at this year’s North East Charity Awards on Thursday night,  so when we learned that the dress code was black tie and cocktail dresses we were straight on the case to help our beneficiaries find outfits to wear for the posh ceremony. Lucky for us, Debenhams came up with the amazing offer of a complimentary outfit and accessories for each of the ladies, along with a session with a personal shopper Susan at their Eldon Square store.

Dalia and Zipporah went along to meet Susan and were ushered into a beautiful private dressing room, where they were welcomed with a cup of tea and a chat about the kind of styles and colours they like to wear. Susan then whizzed around the store with a clothing rail, picking out a wonderful mix of dresses and jumpsuits for the ladies to choose from.

The girls then had a lot of fun trying everything on and eventually found the dresses they loved the best. Dalia picked the most divine sparkly floor length number, while Zipporah opted for a vibrant red dress – they both look incredible and their smiles said it all.

Susan then nipped off again to find matching accessories and the outfits were complete. Dalia and Zipporah couldn’t stop saying thank you and seemed pretty overwhelmed by the whole thing. Susan gave them both a lovely goodie bag to take away of posh skin product and perfume samples – such a thoughtful touch. It was particularly poignant for Zipporah who said that she often walks through Debenhams and dreams of being able to afford perfume and just has to make do with the odd squirt of a tester.

We can’t wait for the North East Charity Awards on Thursday to see everyone all glammed up!
