Due to the Coronavirus outbreak Action Foundation has made the difficult decision to temporarily close our Hosting Project.

Action Hosting matches volunteer ‘hosts’ offering a spare room in their home with a destitute asylum seeker (guest) to provide short-term accommodation.

The move to put the service on hold was made given the significant number of hosts who are no-longer able to offer their spare room and to ensure the safety of both hosts and guests through the uncertainty of the ongoing pandemic.

‘Necessary decision’

Action Foundation’s CEO said: “Hosting is a key element to what Action Foundation has offered clients over the years and is a project that is close to people’s hearts, so this is not a decision we have taken lightly or quickly.”

“However in order to protect our hosts, many of whom are elderly or vulnerable, we felt it was a necessary decision.”

All hosting guests have been able to successfully move on or into our Housing project so no current clients will be disadvantaged by this change.

Situation reviewed

Over the coming months we will regularly review the situation and look forward to relaunching Action Hosting when we feel it’s safe and sustainable to do so.
