Support vulnerable refugees this summer by throwing an Action Foundation Garden Party Fundraiser at home. If you spent last year’s lockdowns perfecting your garden, or funking up your yard, here’s a fun excuse to get your friends and family over to show it off!
We’ve got lots of downloadable resources and ideas to get you started, but you can throw your party however you want.
Afternoon tea with cakes and cucumber sarnies, pimped up prosecco on the patio or how about a fake festival? This fundraiser is for everyone!
All Action Foundation asks is that you aim for a fundraising target of £50 and share some pics of the fun on social media tagging @actionfdn.
The money raised directly supports refugees and people seeking asylum here in Tyne & Wear adapt to their new lives in the region. People seeking asylum have often fled war and persecution, have limited English and are at risk of homelessness.
Through Action Foundation’s powerful combination of supported accommodation, free English classes and social interaction drop-ins, beneficiaries are given the tools to be able to move on with their lives.
One of the people Action Foundation supports talked about the impact this has had on their life: “I have a regular house to live in that I can be proud of, I’m learning English and I’ve been able to see a doctor and a dentist for the first time in 10 years!”
Fundraising and Grants Officer Abi Walker said: “’We launched our Garden Party fundraiser last year and we LOVED seeing how creative our supporters were with their parties… so we’ve brought it back again this summer! It’s a great way to reconnect with your friends and family outdoors, while raising money for refugees and asylum seekers along the way. No matter how big or small, we’d love to help you throw an Action Foundation Garden Party to remember…”
