Our talented fundraiser, Viv Harrison, has crafted a second Christmas quilt to raffle on behalf of Action Foundation – and you could be its proud owner for just £1.
Last year, Viv’s ‘amazing technicolor dream quilt’ attracted more than £200 in donations to our charity and Viv hopes this year’s sewing project (pictured above), which she describes as ‘more muted and contemporary’ will bring in even more for our Warm Hearts Winter Appeal.
Viv, who’s a member of Newcastle’s City Church congregation, said:
“I’m excited to join in with Action Foundation’s Warm Hearts Appeal! It inspired me to make this Echoes quilt for someone to wrap themselves (or someone special!) up in. At Christmas time especially folks want to be comfy and cosy and to feel loved and indeed to have a ‘warm heart’! I hope the Echoes quilt helps to do that.”
She added: “I’ve called the quilt ‘Echoes’ – it’s in three solid colours – brown, grey and cream and the design is an abstract representation of a canyon and the stitches are soundwaves when you call, ‘Hello, Hello, Hello!’ It will wash really easily as it’s made from cotton.”
The winner of last year’s quilt Rachel, an architect in Edinburgh, said:
“I won Viv’s technicolour dream quilt in the 2021 raffle and it is easily my most prized possession – it radiates with the love and care that was put into it and it brightens my day, every single day!”
The raffle for Viv’s quilt will be drawn at 5pm on Thursday December 15 with all proceeds going to our Warm Hearts Winter Appeal, which is supporting asylum seekers and refugees using our projects through the cost of living crisis. To enter, just text VIVSQUILT to 70215. Tickets cost £1 (plus your standard network rate) and you’ll be asked how many tickets you’d like to buy.
