The temperature is dropping and the InterAction team have noticed that some of our more vulnerable beneficiaries are really feeling the cold. So we’re putting out a call for donations of warm clothing and blankets to give out at our drop-in over the winter months.

New or second-hand, clean and in good condition, we really appreciate any winter woolies you can spare as they’ll really make a difference.

InterAction Drop-in Manager Kate Townsend explained why it’s so urgent. “Asylum seekers receive only £39.63 per week to live on. Destitute asylum seekers receive nothing. Please help us to support our asylum-seeking clients with some warm clothes which they may not otherwise be able to afford for the cold northern winter.”

What can you donate?

Have a clear-out of your wardrobes and drawers, and see if you’ve got any spares of the following items…

  • Blankets
  • Hats
  • Gloves
  • Scarves
  • Socks
  • Jumpers
  • Coats

Where to bring donations

If they’re second hand, please give them a wash and bring them along
between 10am and 2pm, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays at
CastleGate at CityChurch, Melbourne St, Newcastle NE1 2JQ

Thanks so much – there really is warmth in giving…
