Leave a Gift in Your Will
“Times are tough and going to get tougher. It’s not surprising that belts are being tightened and even legacies to charities are decreasing. I think it’s even more important that we try to help good charities make the future better for those who are around after us. So I’ve made sure my will includes gifts to charities I know make a difference, including Action Foundation which I love and have given time to over the last few years. I’ve watched them transform lives and I’m grateful for that. It makes the future better for everyone.” – One of our legacy givers
Did you know that you can leave Action Foundation a gift in your will today that will help fund our tomorrow?
Every gift, no matter how large or small, makes a huge difference to the lives of refugees and people seeking asylum in Tyne and Wear. Legacy gifts allow us to plan for our future and grow our vital Language & Learning, Accommodation, Casework and Young people’s services.
You can trust Action Foundation to spend your donation well. For every £1 we receive, we spend 89p on helping people, 6p on fundraising for our key services and 5p on overheads.
If the time is right for you and you’d like to leave Action Foundation a gift in your will, you can do it in three easy steps:
Step 1:
Think about the type of gift
You can choose to leave a fixed amount, specific item (i.e. jewellery or shares) or even a percentage of your estate. This means that you could leave your loved ones 95% and donate 5% to Action Foundation.
Step 2:
Speak to a professional
It’s really important that your will is drawn up by a legal professional so get in touch with a solicitor you trust! All you need to take with you is our Charity Name (Action Foundation) and Charity Number (1132051).
Step 3:
A Lasting Gift
By considering Action Foundation in your will, you’ve helped us to secure our tomorrow. We understand a will can be a very private thing, but if you do feel like sharing this with us then we’d love to thank you for this special gift.

We totally understand that your loved ones come first and looking after their future is a priority. The great thing about leaving a legacy gift is that you can leave a percentage of your overall estate and make sure that your loved ones will be well looked after. You could choose to leave Action Foundation a gift of 1%, 5% or even 20%!
Absolutely. Leaving a legacy gift is about so much more than the monetary value. Here at Action Foundation we believe that leaving a Legacy Gift is a way to reflect on the causes you’ve been passionate about throughout your life and continue that support even when you’re gone.
We also find that lots of people are pleasantly surprised at the size of their estate when they come to draw up their will – particularly if they’re a homeowner!
Every gift, no matter how large or small, makes a huge difference to the lives of refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants across Tyne and Wear. Legacy gifts allow us to plan for our future, developing and growing our support services such as Language, Housing, Drop-In and Digital Inclusion.

Grants, contracts and donations fund our today, but we need legacy gifts to fund our tomorrow. Legacy gifts are incredibly important for Action Foundation as they give us the much-needed financial stability to plan ahead and work towards our longer-term goals for refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants in the North East!
It is preferred that gifts are left for Action Foundation as a whole, giving us the flexibility to use your gift to fund our project with the greatest needs.
However, we understand that many of our supporters have a special connection to a particular project and we’d always honour your wishes. If you’d prefer your legacy gift to go to a particular project, please stipulate this in your will and/ or communicate your wishes with us.
You’re under no obligation to let us know. For many this is a private gesture, however, we’d love to be able to thank you in a special way if you were to let us know. This is completely up to you.
If you would like to tell us that you plan to leave a legacy gift, you can contact [email protected] or any other member of staff you feel comfortable talking to.
