Good morning everyone,
I wanted to get in touch with an update on what we’ve been up to, what we’re planning and how you might be able to get involved. These are difficult times for all and sadly it is often the most vulnerable in our communities who are hit the hardest. We are particularly mindful that the effect of Covid-19 on our clients is likely to be magnified and we’re doing all we can to support them, our staff and others connected to Action Foundation.
What we’ve been doing
- Co-ordinating a collaborative response in the areas we have a presence; Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland. This has meant drawing together both voluntary and statutory organisations to see how we can respond together to the crisis.
- Sending out clear information in multiple languages to our clients to reinforce central and local government advice.
- Continuing to be there for our existing clients with telephone support sessions, as well as those from the InterAction Drop-in and Action Language projects who we’ve felt are most in need.
- We’ve begun to deliver practical help to clients in the form of food or mobile phone credit.
What we’re planning
Over the past week we’ve been drawing up a plan to deliver the activities above in a more co-ordinated and consistent way. We’ll build on this plan in the coming weeks, and move forward with the collaborations we’ve started with our partners in the region. With that in mind, we hope to get some firm details out to you all next week regarding these plans and how you can get involved.
