If we’re successful, we’d like to use the £1,000 to provide travel passes for people so they can attend our free English language classes.
Asylum seekers are not allowed to work and receive just £9.58 per week if they are housed in initial accommodation like hotels. This bars many from travelling into the city centre to access support. Not being able to work, many people seek to attend English language classes because they want to learn and integrate into the community.
