Volunteering Opportunities with Action Foundation
Action Foundation would not be able to function in the way that it does without the incredible input of so many volunteers. However, many of our volunteers tell us that they gain as much as they give through their experience with us. We have a number of opportunities available for volunteering with both our Language & Learning classes and our InterAction Newcastle and InterAction South Tyneside projects.

Volunteer with Language & Learning
Qualified ESOL teachers
Our English lessons are run by qualified and experienced volunteer teachers (CELTA or equivalent). Volunteer teachers help us develop our work by committing to prepare and deliver regular lessons (face-to-face or online) and by preparing self-study materials for learners. Teachers work with learners at a specific ESOL level, and with volunteer assistants, so inclusivity and teamwork is vital.

Volunteer Teaching Assistants
Our volunteer teaching assistants work with the teachers of our free classes to support students in their English learning, providing feedback and friendly interaction in both online and face-to-face classes, all with support and direction from staff and volunteer teachers. Volunteer Teaching Assistants will work with learners at a specific ESOL level, and inclusivity and teamwork is vital.

Volunteer with InterAction
InterAction Volunteers
Our Drop-ins are held at The CastleGate at CityChurch in Newcastle between 11am -2pm every Thursday. We regularly need volunteers to work with the Drop-in Manager, Coordinators and other volunteers to support clients through welcome and registration, interpreting, providing advice, setting up and packing down the venue, and serving refreshments. We also have opportunities in South Tyneside for charities, community groups and businesses to offer volunteering placements for asylum seekers and refugees.
